LG C3 OLED Best Settings for Movies, Gaming and PC
Use accurate starting modes on the LG C3 for SDR, HDR10, Dolby Vision, PS5, Xbox and PC, with firmware-dependent Game Optimizer caveats.

Best starting point
Use Filmmaker Mode or Cinema for SDR and HDR10, Cinema for Dolby Vision, and Game Optimizer for gaming on the 2023 LG C3. Then adjust only what solves a visible need. There is no reliable universal table of white balance, color tuner or near-black settings for every panel.
Configure each signal while it is active. LG stores picture choices separately by input, app, mode and dynamic range, so an SDR streaming setup does not automatically configure HDR10 or Dolby Vision.
SDR viewing
Choose Filmmaker Mode or Cinema and set OLED Pixel Brightness for your room. Keep the default color-management and white-balance controls unless you have measurements from that panel. Noise reduction can help a genuinely noisy low-bitrate source, but leaving every enhancement enabled can remove texture or add artifacts.
Motion is a preference. Off avoids interpolation; a modest user setting can reduce judder if desired. Do not copy sports motion settings into films without comparing them.
HDR10
Start with Filmmaker Mode or Cinema. Dynamic Tone Mapping On analyzes HDR10 presentation dynamically; Off follows the mode's less adaptive mapping. Compare them with familiar content in the actual room. A brighter-looking image is not automatically more accurate, and a darker image is not automatically preserving more detail.
Dolby Vision
Use a Dolby Vision title to expose its picture modes. Cinema is the accuracy-oriented baseline. Cinema Home can compensate for room light at the cost of a different presentation. Do not look for an HGiG setting for Dolby Vision video; HGiG belongs to an HDR gaming workflow.
PS5, Xbox and Windows games
Use Game Optimizer, then verify the source's 4K, HDR, refresh-rate and VRR status. To use HGiG, select it on the TV before running the platform HDR calibration. Calibrate the game afterward if it provides independent patterns.
VRR can alter the availability or behavior of other picture processing. If a control is greyed out, first check whether Game Optimizer, VRR, the input type or the signal format is responsible. Do not enter a service menu to restore a normal mode restriction.
PC monitor setup
Use the PC input type for desktop chroma clarity and confirm the signal at the computer. Keep source and TV video-range interpretation matched; forcing “Full” at only one end can raise or crush blacks. Use moderate SDR brightness and automatic display sleep for static work.
The C3 is a 2023 generation, but firmware can change labels and restrictions. Claims that it has a particular “refined” tone-mapping result should be supported by a measured review, not assumed from its model number.
OLED Control can apply controls exposed by a supported C3 firmware. It does not change console calibration, GPU output or the television's internal tone-mapping firmware.

C3 setup workflow
Reset only the active profile and start SDR in Filmmaker Mode, Cinema or ISF Expert. Set OLED Pixel Brightness for the room; leave black level and panel-specific color controls at defaults. Record Energy Saving and AI Brightness during comparisons.
Trigger HDR10 before configuring it. Compare DTM On/Off at one timestamp containing faces and highlights. Dolby Vision loads its own profile: Cinema suits controlled light, Cinema Home is the brighter room option. Do not apply HGiG to Dolby Vision films.
C3 gaming
Use Game Optimizer and verify 4K120, ALLM and VRR separately. C3 is a 120 Hz-generation television; do not import C4 144 Hz PC guidance. For HGiG, select it first, run PS5/Xbox/Windows calibration, then configure the game.
If dark scenes flicker only with VRR, compare fixed refresh and inspect frame-time spikes. Fine Tune Dark Areas can alter near-black visibility but may lift/crush detail. Full blackouts require direct HDMI/certified-cable diagnosis.
C3 PC and streaming
Use native 3840×2160, PC input labeling, RGB/4:4:4 and OS scaling. WRGB subpixels can still create close-range text fringing. Sharpness does not change subpixel geometry.
For streaming banding, compare internal app and high-quality source. Smooth Gradation can conceal compression at the cost of texture. A fixed vertical panel band is different from a contour moving with the scene.
C3 motion and care
Real Cinema addresses 24p cadence; OLED's fast response still exposes stutter. Add restrained TruMotion only by preference. Keep Screen Move, Logo Brightness and automatic compensation active. Manual Pixel Cleaning follows LG's model-specific guidance, not a routine schedule.
C3 FAQ
Are C2 settings identical?
No. Principles are similar, but firmware, processing and panel samples differ.
Should every HDR game use HGiG?
Use it for a repeatable source-led path when the game responds correctly. DTM remains a brighter preference.
Why is a control gray?
Game Optimizer, VRR or signal type may intentionally restrict processing.
Can OLED Control calibrate C3?
It can repeat supported states, not measure or correct the panel.
C3 verification checklist
After setup, replay one SDR film scene, HDR10 highlight scene, Dolby Vision sequence, stable 120 Hz game and fine PC text pattern. Confirm the active badge/mode each time. This catches the common mistake of adjusting one dynamic-range profile and expecting another to inherit it. Record firmware and input so a later update can be compared with evidence rather than memory.
