First sit centered at normal distance and compare real pale content—snow, clouds, black-and-white film and neutral walls—with internal LG menus and two independent sources. Then move left/right without changing content. If the tint moves, strengthens or disappears with viewing angle, the panel/coating optics are involved. If the same fixed region is visible head-on across internal and external content, document panel uniformity for the retailer or LG.
Do not try to erase a localized pink patch with two-point white balance or global tint. Those controls alter the entire screen and cannot independently correct one edge. Panel-specific calibration may improve overall grayscale, but it cannot make a spatially nonuniform panel uniform.
Symptoms That Separate Tint Sources
- One edge or vertical zone looks pink on white/near-white content.
- The tint is stronger from one seat and fades when viewed from another angle.
- It appears in LG Home/settings as well as HDMI sources: source settings are unlikely.
- It appears only on one PC/console input: inspect output format, ICC profile and picture mode.
- A lamp/window reflection occupies the same region and changes at night.
- The tint is visible only on test slides, never in ordinary viewing.
- Snow, gray skies, ice hockey or black-and-white films reveal it repeatedly.
- A sharp colored line rather than a broad wash remains: possible electronics/pixel defect.
“Normal” is not a useful binary without context. Some angular color shift can be characteristic of panel optics; a strong fixed head-on nonuniformity that disrupts normal content is valid service evidence.
Causes: Spatial Uniformity, Angle and Environment
Panel and optical-layer variation
OLED manufacturing and optical stacks are not perfectly identical across the surface or between samples. C1/G1 owner reports describe pink zones that vary by panel and become most visible on white or light gray. Viewing-angle color shift
Even OLED can show color changes with angle because light passes through panel layers and anti-reflection treatment. If a region changes when the viewer shifts position, global electronic white balance is not the main cause. A wall-mounted G1 that is tilted or off-center to the seating may reveal asymmetry that a centered position reduces.
Reflections and wall color
The glossy screen reflects colored walls, skin, furniture, windows and lamps. A warm lamp reflected on the left can look like panel pink tint. Turn room lights off and cover the bright window for an A/B test; do not judge from a phone photo that includes reflections.
Source or picture-context differences
SDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision store separate picture modes. A PC ICC profile, Night Light, console filter or copied white balance can produce a global cast on one source. If LG internal UI remains neutral, investigate the external chain before the panel.
Camera artifacts
Phone automatic white balance, exposure and lens angle can exaggerate or invent color gradients. A photo is useful for support only when accompanied by direct-view observations, fixed manual camera settings, centered geometry and normal-content examples.
Step-by-Step Safe Assessment
1. Remove obvious environmental color
Evaluate in moderate neutral lighting. Turn off colored LEDs and move warm lamps; close curtains. Clean the screen according to LG guidance using no aggressive chemicals. Reflections can masquerade as tint, while uneven cleaning residue can alter apparent glare.
2. Establish centered geometry
Sit directly in front of the panel midpoint at normal viewing distance, with eyes near screen center height. Confirm the G1 mount is not twisted or aimed away from primary seating. Do not press or flex the panel.
3. Use normal content first
Watch several minutes of pale real material: winter scenes, clouds, a monochrome film and ordinary faces against neutral walls. Record whether tint distracts without searching for it. Test slides are secondary tools; they can reveal tiny deviations that never matter in use.
4. Compare internal and external sources
Open a neutral LG menu/internal app, then the same kind of content from HDMI. Use default neutral Cinema/Filmmaker settings and disable source Night Light/color filters. A fixed region across all paths supports panel/optical uniformity. One-source tint points to that profile or mode.
5. Run the angle sweep
With one pale frame displayed briefly, view from center, one seat left, one seat right and slightly higher/lower. Note whether the pink area stays physically fixed but changes intensity or seems to migrate. Strong angle dependence implicates optical behavior and seating alignment.
6. Distinguish global grayscale from spatial error
If the entire screen is uniformly warm/magenta, reset only the affected picture mode and verify Color Temperature/white balance defaults. If one side differs from the other, global controls cannot correct both simultaneously. Do not copy another panel's RGB gain/offset values.
7. Allow normal early compensation
For a brand-new unit, use varied normal content and allow automatic compensation during standby. Do not repeatedly trigger manual Pixel Cleaning hoping to remove pink tint; optical/spatial tint is not image retention. Reassess after ordinary use, but do not let the retailer return window expire when normal content is clearly affected.
8. Build return or service evidence
Photograph centered, perpendicular, at fixed manual white balance/exposure if possible. Include normal-content examples, internal UI and a neutral near-white field only briefly. Record model suffix, serial, hours if user-accessible, firmware, seating position and affected region. Ask the retailer about exchange during its window; ask LG for panel evaluation afterward.
Calibration Limitations
A professional meter can calibrate grayscale at one measurement position and improve global accuracy. It cannot independently subtract pink from one side without spatial correction hardware the consumer TV does not expose. Calibrating to compensate for the pink side makes the neutral side wrong. CMS and Tint controls are likewise global/content-color controls, not uniformity repair.
Do not enter the service menu to identify panel codes or alter factory white balance. Those actions can create larger errors and complicate service. Panel-generation claims from stickers or hidden menus do not decide whether your visible sample is acceptable.
Cautions
Do not leave 100% white slides running for long, press/massage the screen, run repeated compensation, or use cleaning solvents. Do not claim burn-in from an angle-dependent pink wash. Conversely, do not dismiss a fixed severe tint visible in films merely because other owners tolerate theirs.

Is pink tint normal on C1/G1?
Some sample and angle-dependent tint is reported, but acceptability depends on severity in centered normal viewing. Fixed distracting nonuniformity merits exchange/service evidence.
Can white balance remove it?
